This Privacy Policy describes how the PlantPic mobile application ("PlantPic", "we", "us", or "our") handles
information when you use the app. We have tried to keep this document short and in plain English. If anything
here is unclear, please email us at support@plantpic.app.
1. Information We Collect
PlantPic is designed to collect as little information as possible.
Photos you submit for identification. When you take or upload a photo to identify a plant,
diagnose an issue, check toxicity, or use any other AI-powered tool, the image is sent to our AI provider
(Google Gemini) for analysis. Photos are processed in transit and discarded after the response is returned.
We do not retain a copy of your photos on any server we control.
Your plant collection and garden data. The plants you save to "My Garden", your watering
reminders, notes, and similar data are stored locally on your device using on-device storage (AsyncStorage).
This data does not leave your device and is not visible to us.
Support correspondence. If you email us or submit feedback through TestFlight, we will see
the contents of your message and your email address so we can reply.
Advertising measurement and subscription signals. The app creates a random per-install
purchase token and sends it to our attribution service with Meta's app-scoped anonymous identifier, Apple's
identifier for vendor (IDFV), your tracking-permission status, and the app version/build. If you allow
tracking, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is also included. We also process limited app interactions and
App Store subscription events so we can measure which ads lead to useful activity and paid subscriptions.
PlantPic has no account system and no sign-in. Outside support you initiate, we do not collect your name,
email, or contacts,
and we show no ads inside the app. If — and only if — you grant permission on Apple's App Tracking
Transparency prompt, the app shares your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) with Meta to measure ads we
run for PlantPic (see "Advertising and measurement" in Data Sharing below). If you decline that prompt, we
do not collect or share the IDFA and you are not tracked across other apps or websites. Meta may still receive
limited app events without an advertising identifier for aggregated measurement.
2. How We Use Information
To identify plants, diagnose problems, and answer your questions through the in-app AI tools.
To respond to support requests and bug reports you send us.
To operate, maintain, and improve the core features of the app.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share data only in these narrow cases:
Google Gemini (AI processing). Photos and text prompts you submit through PlantPic's AI
tools are sent to Google's Gemini API for the sole purpose of generating a response. Google's handling of
this data is governed by their own terms and privacy policy. We do not authorise Google to use your photos
to train their general-purpose models.
Apple. If you purchase a subscription, billing is handled by Apple and we do not see your
payment details. Apple sends our attribution service signed subscription notifications containing product,
transaction, trial/renewal status, and the random purchase token generated by the app.
Meta (advertising measurement). We run ads for PlantPic on platforms such as Facebook and
Instagram. The app and our attribution service share limited app events, subscription events, Meta's
app-scoped anonymous identifier, IDFV, tracking-permission status, and app version/build with Meta Platforms,
Inc. for ad measurement and optimisation. Only if you grant Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission do
we also share the IDFA. If you decline, no IDFA is collected or shared; Meta may still receive anonymous or
aggregated app and subscription events. We never share your photos, garden data, support messages, or AI
prompts with Meta. U.S. residents: we do not sell your personal
information; to the extent sharing the advertising identifier is treated as a "sale" or "sharing," you can opt
out by declining the prompt, and we apply Meta's Limited Data Use terms for applicable states.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if compelled by a valid legal process.
4. Data Retention
Photos sent through the AI tools are not retained by us after the AI response is returned. Garden and plant
data lives on your device until you delete the app or clear its storage; uninstalling PlantPic permanently
removes this data. Support messages are kept for as long as needed to resolve your enquiry, then deleted.
Attribution link records are automatically deleted within 400 days; duplicate-notification markers expire
within 30 days. Meta and Apple retain information under their own policies.
5. Children's Privacy
PlantPic is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under
13. If you believe a child has used the app and we have somehow received their information, please contact
us and we will delete it.
6. Your Rights
You can erase local app data by deleting PlantPic. If you want a support message or an attribution record
removed before it expires, contact us; we may need information from you to locate the record because PlantPic
has no account profile.
7. Security
Photos and prompts are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections to Google Gemini. On-device data is stored using
the operating system's standard application storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure,
but we use reasonable technical measures to protect your information.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top of the page indicates
when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or at this URL.
